Alec Finlay

Alec Finlay (b. 1966) is a poet and artist based in Edinburgh. Finlay’s work looks at the landscape and offers a commentary on the ‘experiential’ and the ‘lived’. He employs techniques of focusing on the micro within the landscape, seeking out ‘families’ or ‘colonies’ of embedded elements and bringing these to the fore. Often working collaboratively, Finlay develops projects which involve many collaborators, researching various aspects of the different locations he works in, seeking expertise from a number of fields. His work has been exhibited extensively, at The Bluecoat, Liverpool, Tate Modern, London, and ARC Gallery, Sofia, Bulgaria.
