Windblown grass silk scarf: Caroline Dear

Windblown grass silk scarf by Caroline Dear

Skye-based artist, Caroline Dear has designed a vibrant silk scarf inspired by Britain’s only deciduous grass, known as purple moor-grass, or Fianach in Gaelic. Dear was drawn to it because it sheds its leaves naturally and these are then scattered by the wind, creating patterns and natural shapes of the pale grass lying on the heather in winter.

Limited to an edition of 20, each scarf was printed and finished in Scotland by small-scale creative organisations BeFab Be Creative, whose intention is making the process of Reactive Digital Printing on Fabric simpler and easier for short-run production, and Kalopsia Collective, who are focused on offering sustainable and ethical alternatives for apparel and accessories.
