Following the ATLAS Arts’ 2021 – 2023 From Plockton to Portree community boat build project, two new St Ayle’s skiff were launched in 2023: one in Plockton, and one in Portree. These can be rowed by anyone, and belong to you.
The boats are not owned or managed by ATLAS Arts. Both boats are used slightly differently and require local communities to sustain their use. We can help signpost you to the people who are using them now.

Portree /North Skye: The“Tommy Mackenzie”
Join and send a message to the Whatsapp group and/or Facebook page to find out more. As of August 2026 the boat can be found down Scorrybreac Road, here. The boat’s users are looking for a place to keep the boat longer term and for people interested in sustaining its use, including setting up a new North Skye coastal rowing club. The boat may also be lent to different communities interested in building their own.
