Landshapes | David Lemm

29 September 2015 – 20 February 2016

As part of ATLAS Editions, David Lemm was commissioned to create a limited edition artwork. Using the unique landscape of the Isle of Skye as the basis of his research, Lemm was invited to explore The Cuillin, the spectacular and iconic mountain range on the Isle of Skye.

Thinking about the mountain as a whole, rather than just the summit, Lemm chose to climb Sgurr Alasdair, which at 3,255 feet is the highest island summit in the United Kingdom. With the invaluable help of Skye Adventure, Lemm ascended Sgurr Alasdair, via the famous Great Stone Chute. This experience provided the inspiration for Landshapes, a series of seven postcards depicting his journey alongside a poster and sticker set, packaged together in a signed, screen printed box.

The A6 postcards have been hand screen printed by the artist and are individually numbered. Each references a different part of the climb, drawing attention to the varied aspects of the ascent and the journey as it unfolded. The A4 folded risograph poster is individually signed and numbered by the artist.
