Dualachas Chroitearachd Cairt-Chluiche | Cultural Crofting Playing Cards

‘S e cairtean-cluiche Dualchas Croitearachd | Cultural Crofting Playing Cards na choimisean Ealain ATLAS le Sharon Quigley agus Andy Fielding.

Tha Cairtean-cluiche Dualchas Croitearachd a’ leudachadh air pròiseact a thòisich ATLAS ann an 2014. Dh’obraich iad an co-bhonn ri ionad-latha Craigard ann an Uibhist a Tuath agus Quigley air pròiseact fo ainm Beatha air an Talamh airson rannsachadh a dhèanamh air dualchas àraid agus cultar croitearachd. A-mach às a’ phròiseact thàinig seata àraid de chairtean taisbeanaidh Gàidhlig air croitearachd a tha a’ taisbeanadh sgilean na buidhne agus sgilean coimhearsnachd croitearachd san fharsaingeachd, air am fighe còmhla le samhlaidhean, inneach agus pàtrain a’ riochdachadh mar a tha croitearachd, cultar agus cruth-tìre air an ceangal ri chèile.

Ann an 2016 thug ATLAS coimisean do Quigley agus Fielding na cairtean a dhèanamh mar phaca de chairtean-cluiche a bhiodh na ghoireas spòrsail, feumail ann am foghlam Gàidhlig agus cuideachd airson aire a tharraing gu croitearachd. Tha sinn an dùil na cairtean a sgaoileadh timcheall air bun-sgoiltean na sgìre.

Dh’obraich sinn cuideachd còmhla ri sgoilearan agus tidsearan Gàidhlig Bun-sgoil Phort Rìgh airson dealbhan ùra a chruthachadh, agus cuid de chreutairean uirsgeulach nam measg!

Thàinig am pròiseact seo gu buil le taic bho Bòrd na Gàidhlig.

Dualachas Chroitearachd Cairt-Chluiche | Cultural Crofting Playing Cards is an ATLAS Arts commission by Sharon Quigley and Andy Fielding.

Dualachas Chroitearachd Cairt-Chluiche | Cultural Crofting is the development of a project that began in 2014 when ATLAS worked with Craigard Day Centre in North Uist and Sharon on a project called Life on the Land to explore the unique heritage and culture of crofting. Part of the output was a unique set of Gaelic crofting flash cards that reflected both the skills of the group and those of the wider crofting community, characterising through symbols, texture and pattern the interconnectivity of crofting, our culture and landscape.

In 2016 ATLAS commissioned Sharon to develop these into a pack of playing cards that will function as a fun, Gaelic educational tool and also to increase awareness of crofting. We plan to distribute these cards to primary school pupils in the region.

We also worked with Gaelic Medium pupils and teachers at Portree Primary School to come up with some new designs, including some of the mythical creatures!

This project has been made possible thanks to Bòrd na Gàidhlig.
