The Admiral’s House | More Information

The Admiral’s House is a former black house donated to WASPS by the family of Vice-Admiral Sir Roderick (Roddy) Macdonald KBE. As well as serving as a naval officer, Admiral Roddy was a keen amateur artist. His home has been redeveloped by WASPS to create: three double bedrooms (one en-suite) and three studio spaces located around the property’s grounds. The Admiral’s House also has a large, open-plan living space with modern kitchen/dining area and lounge – with a wood-burning fire.

The new studio built in the grounds of The Admiral's House over looking the Sound of Raasay.

Artefacts and an interesting library of books once belonging to Admiral Roddy himself have been left in the home and an archive is available to view at Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre in Portree. The House sits in Lower Ollach, six miles South of Portree.
