What does it mean to be a (good) visitor?
Come join us on June 14th in Kilmuir Village Hall for an exciting all day event in celebration of the Corncrake! More often heard than seen, this enigmatic bird is a very special part of the culture and ecology of the Hebrides. Bringing together music, storytelling, sculpture, birding, folklore, crofting and local history the Corncrake Ceilidh will finish with a midnight walk listening out for the bird’s well known ‘crex crex’ call.
The event is hosted by ATLAS Arts and collaborators Scott Rogers and Yasmin Nurming-Por. The Corncrake Ceilidh is the first aspect of Traon: Summer Visitors, a three-part project exploring ecology, tourism and tradition in relation to the Corncrake.
The event will feature contributions from Professor Frank Rennie, RSPB Corncrake Project Officer Shelagh Parlane, Angus & Eilidh and friends, and more special invited guests.
All aspects of the event will be free of charge.
