ATLAS Arts is delighted to be screening Ritesh Batra’s award-winning film The Lunchbox at this month’s SCREEN-IT. Made in Mumbai in 2012, Ritesh Batra wrote the film based on the famous ‘Dabbawala’; a complex lunchbox system unique to Mumbai. Quintessentially a love story between a widower about to retire and a young wife who is trying to put romance back into her marriage through love letters sent within the tiffin boxes. The film highlights the importance of homemade food and how this can be achieved in modern society. The film continues this year’s artistic programme exploring food and the environment.
After the screening, there is an opportunity to talk about the film’s themes in our informal discussion group over a glass of wine or Indian beer.
Please feel free to look through our reading material which will help inform our discussion group.
