Theme: Environment Appreciation
We are delighted to be hosting a new season of SCREEN-IT. Our first film of this year is the internationally acclaimed British comedy Local Hero by Oscar-winning director and writer Bill Forsyth. This film launches the start of ATLAS‘ 2017 programme exploring aquaculture, food and the environment.
Made in 1983, following the success of Gregory’s Girl, Bill Forsyth’s film is funny and magical, with a host of great character relationships, but it has a serious yet subtle pro-environmental message that is as relevant now as it was then.
“Genuine fairy tales are rare; so is film-making that is thoroughly original in an unobtrusive way. Bill Forsyth’s quirky disarming Local Hero is both.”
Janet Maslin , The New York Times
After the screening, we would be delighted if you could join us for an informal group discussion over a glass of wine or beer along with our delicious nibbles.
