SCREEN-IT is ATLAS’ film and moving image programme. Throughout the winter season, ATLAS screens artists’ moving-image monthly: encouraging a dialogue and discussion about the role of artists film and the themes explored through each film selection. Creating this forum to foster conversation and collective exploration of artists’ moving-image has allowed ATLAS to expand it’s film programming remit, with large-scale film screening projects in collaboration with Transit Arts and Skye Live. Through SCREEN-IT, ATLAS has also worked with Smoking Dogs Films, Lisson Gallery and Dunvegan Castle to screen John Akomfrah’s ‘The Call of Mist (2012 Redux)’.
Past seasons of SCREEN-IT have shown works addressing themes of globalisation, colonialism and borders; everyday life and the avant-garde; the work of woman film-makers and feminism – with works by John Smith, Rachel Maclean, Chantal Akerman, George Barber, Margaret Tait and Elizabeth Price screened.
Details of all SCREEN-IT events are posted on the ATLAS Facebook and in the Events section of the website.
