Plural Futures: Virtual Cyborg Parade

18 April 2020, 12:00
Online Event
Free to attend

Our community meal, screening and cyborg workshop due to take place at Minginish Community Hall on 18 April has been postponed. In its place we are inviting you to join the Plural Futures Virtual Cyborg Parade.

Cyborgs are fictional or hypothetical beings often found in Science Fiction. Taking any form, human like or not, their imagined powers and abilities can extend beyond human possibilities.

Create your cyborgs out of recycled material and things you find around your home, and imagine what super powers your futuristic beings might have.

We hope to bring cyborgs of all ages in Skye, Lochalsh and around the world together online, at a time when us humans are physically apart.

We’ll be sharing simple tips and tricks for making your cyborg beings on Facebook and Instagram.

Tag @ATLASArts or use the hashtag #cyborgparade on Facebook and Instagram to be added to the online parade on Saturday the 18th of April.

Plural Futures’ is a thread running across ATLAS projects in 2020. It includes film events, artworks, collective-making, meals, discussions and long term processes of work. It is organised by ATLAS Arts in collaboration with community groups around Skye and Lochalsh. This programme is about thinking about many different kinds of possible futures and ways of relating to the world – with humans, animals and other critters – whilst building solidarity and plurality in this imagining.

With this programme we are interested in processes of making, thinking, healing and designing together, encouraging critique and empathy towards the past and present.
