About Dr. James Merryweather:
James Merryweather is a biologist/musician, living in Auchtertyre. Fifteen years ago, he took early retirement from research at the University of York where, in Prof. Alastair Fitter’s lab., he studied the field ecology of a ubiquitous, but little understood soil symbiosis: mycorrhiza. His research ‘tool’ was bluebell, so he spent many happy years working in woodland where he learned to appreciate belowground ecology. He is passionate about the richness and diversity of the sealife around Skye.
Tidalwalk is part of the associated Public Programme of CLIMAVORE: On Tidal Zones by Cooking Sections, the new ATLAS Arts commissioned project that looks at forms of eating that address environmental regeneration by promoting ingredients that proactively respond to the new ecological challenges of Scottish waters.
