From Plockton to Portree is a boat project with Malcolm MacKenzie bringing people together to explore stories and relationships with the sea.
In the summer of 2022, Malcolm invites people to join him on and by the sea in a series of activities leading towards the building of two new coastal rowing skiffs and the restaging of a race between Plockton and Portree.
Time spent on a boat or in the water can shift perspectives and encourage different ways of thinking and doing. The project asks, what role does the sea play in connecting us across and within different communities?
Part of the Culture Collective network with SEALL and Fèisean nan Gàidheal, the project will take place across Lochalsh and Skye between 2022 and 2023.
Throughout June and July, we will be organising an informal programme of activities and get-togethers on and off the water. More details coming soon.
