THE QUIET YEAR //Imagining the queer and trans future of the Highlands, hosted by OVER /AT.

[A sociable, participatory, creative, queer zoom session]

OVER /AT has been all about imagining/remembering trans pasts/futures in the Highlands. We’d like this session to be a chance to imagine and build a little corner of the world together, discuss some of the challenges we face, and make new friends.

What is The Quiet Year?

The Quiet Year is a map game. You define the struggles of a community living after the collapse of civilisation, and attempt to build something good within their quiet year….”

The game is made by Avery Alder (https://buriedwithoutceremony.com/about (opens in a new tab)) and has queer open-endedness sewn through it.

It imagines a year with a particular group in a particular place, and presents challenges to find out more about how they live, and what their hopes are. This session will run for around 2 hours in total with a small group of us, and we will shape the game to speak about the challenges facing our LGBTQ+ and Highland communities through imagination and play.

OVER /AT is also giving copies of our debut E.P. to those who come and participate — just include your address for us when you register, or pass it on to us in an email.

The session is open to any LGBTQ+ person in the Highlands and Islands (and others with reason to be interested in our futures) who is over 18.
