Walk, lunch and conversation with Stephen Bungard, Daniel Godínez Nivón and special guests. Begins at Raasay Pier, transport from Portree and within Raasay offered, see below for more info.

This gentle walk and conversation begins with a tour led by local botanist Stephen Bungard, exploring plant life around Raasay and the places where geology, extraction, and ecology meet. Particular attention will be given to eala-bhì (St John’s Wort), a modest yellow plant long associated in Gaelic tradition with protection, dreaming, and keeping harmful forces at bay.

Following a shared lunch, we’ll discuss some of the traditions and beliefs associated with eala-bhi and Mexican artist Daniel Godínez Nivón will draw on his own work, leading an open conversation on dreaming and plants as living archives of memory and resistance. Exploring connections between Highland traditions and Daniel’s wider research on the knowledge passed on through dreaming, the gathering invites reflection on how land and plants hold stories that surface through chance, care, and attention.

A slow, thoughtful day for walking, listening, and sharing where plants meet dreaming with lunch provided.
