Maoilios Caimbeul [Myles Campbell] is a Gaelic poet who was born in Staffin, Skye and now lives in Flodigarry. He was a tutor with Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and was Poet in Residence there in 2008. Caimbeul was crowned Bard at the National Mod in 2002 and is honorary bard of the Gaelic Society of Inverness. He has published six poetry collections and selected poems from 1974 – 2006 in Scottish Gaelic and with Irish Gaelic translations by Rody Gorman, and is co-author with Mark O Goodwin of The Two Sides of the Pass / Dà Thaobh a’ Bhealaich, a bilingual book of poems which deals with questions of heritage, Gaelic and English, in Skye and wider afield. In 2011, Caimbeul co-authored a biographical book with his wife titled Island Conversion; it includes a series of Gaelic poems. He has also published seven children’s and teenage novels and one adult novel.
