New Music Biennial Performances - London

Ceumann /Footsteps, commissioned by ATLAS Arts, brings together contemporary sound artist Jason Singh with Skye-based Gaelic musician Anne Martin in an intercultural exchange exploring the artists’ personal biographies which took them on a journey to North India to develop their ideas and connect with local musicans. Drawing from parallels in the landscapes, storytelling of the Isle of Skye and Northern India and the complementary harmonic traditions of Gaelic and Indian Raga they have co-created new musical compositions.

This project has been selected as part of the PRS Foundation’s The New Music Biennial. Anne Martin, Jason Singh, Joe Harrison Greave, alongside Indian musicians Sharat Chandra Srivastava and Gyan Singh will perform in Hull and London in 2017.

They will perform at the South Bank Centre in London on the 8 July and as part of Hull’s City of Culture Festival, on the 2 July.

PRS for Music Foundation’s New Music Biennial is an exciting and free new music festival which forms part of Hull 2017 UK City of Culture, presenting 20 pieces of new music across two festival weekends in Hull (30 June – 2 July 2017) and at London’s Southbank Centre (7 – 9 July 2017). The New Music Biennial will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
