We are pleased to announce a programme of free guided walks and tours in the centre of Portree designed to compliment your experience of Are you LOCATIONALIZED.
The walks focus on the historic site of the Highland Games and the temporary work located at the Apothecary’s Tower. The site is locally known as the Lump. Guides will share their knowledge of the history of the area, the Generation project and some of Portree’s hidden places.
MONDAY – WEDNESDAY 10.00 – 11.00 am & 2.00 – 3.00 pm
Depart from the Tourist Information Office
THURSDAY-FRIDAY 10.00 – 11.00 am
Guides will be located on the Lump and provide short tours of the site.
SATURDAY & SUNDAY 11.00 – 12.00 am

This walk will be simultaneously interpreted in British Sign language
Departing from the Portree Tourist office, Isle of Skye
ATLAS Arts is committed to widening access to as many people and groups as possible. Arrangements can be made for individuals or groups to visit the site at different times to the scheduled walks, to transport you or a group by car to the site or we can come and talk to you about the project.
Why not take a day trip to visit the rest of Are you LOCATIONALIZED on North Uist at Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum and Art Centre. Calmac are running day returns on Fridays until 29 August and on Sundays until 7 September. To travel by foot it will cost £12 return with bus links from Portree to Uig (£5.80 adult return).

Are you LOCATIONALIZED by Joanne Tatham and Tom O’Sullivan was commissioned as a dual-sited cross-island project between the Hebridean islands of Skye and North Uist. Are you LOCATIONALIZED was ATLAS’ contribution to the 2014 nationwide project GENERATION, a major exhibition programme which showcased some of the best and most significant artists to have emerged from Scotland over the preceding twenty-five years.
