WALK – We will explore what you see and what you don’t within the birch dominated woodland of Coille Gaireallach. Starting from the rock beneath we will get an understanding of the interlinked networking within the soil and fungi below and the plants and fungi above the ground surface. Through observing closely these interconnected and interactive relationships we can understand this woodland landscape and our place within it.
TERRAIN – This will be a meandering walk in the woods above High Pasture Cave. We won’t be following a path, as we will walk through the birch-dominated woodland. The ground will be uneven, with tree roots and sink holes as part of the limestone topography. Depending on the weather and the day we may climb up through trees to the hill ridge. Walking boots advised.
Land Line was a series of five walks over five days that offered a unique chance to explore our relationship with the environment. Led by Skye-based artist Caroline Dear, each featured a specially invited collaborator and encouraged observation and conversation.
